Happy Sunday of a long weekend. As I have said many times, when it comes to Matt Bevin, you just can’t make it up because he will always come up with something stranger. The man who teased a second gubernatorial campaign with a minivan, who avoided a court hearing because of a boulder crashing through his Maine vacation house, the man who left his son at an abusive school in Jamaica, this man was finally arrested while filming a Christmas movie on a Bourbon County horse farm. (Let’s remember as governor, he tried to get rid of state tax incentives for movies made here.) He now has a mug shot, and thus 1,000 memes were born. And then because he had flouted the judge in his child custody case so many times, he was sentenced to 60 days in jail.
Anyway. The end of a long week that started with losing Wendell Berry.
Have a great Labor Day, and thanks, as always for reading, donating and recommending us to friends.

COMMENTARY

Some Kentuckians become so rooted in this place that it is difficult to think of one without the other. Wendell Berry was such a Kentuckian. He died Monday at age 92 at his beloved Lane’s Landing Farm in Port Royal, Ky.
